CIDCA chairman meets with Ghana's minister of finance

Luo Zhaohui, chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), met with visiting Minister of Finance of Ghana Ofori-Atta on March 23, 2023.

Luo welcomed Ofori-Atta on his visit to China, saying that the China-Ghana friendship was forged by the older generation of leaders of the two countries but remains as fresh as ever. In recent years, under the strategic leadership of the two heads of state, remarkable progress has been made in pragmatic bilateral cooperation in such fields as infrastructure, agriculture, medical care and people’s livelihoods, he said. China is ready to continue to help Ghana with its socioeconomic development, jointly implement consensuses reached by the two heads of state, and further promote implementation of the Global Development Initiative (GDI) in a bid to benefit both countries and their people, Luo said.

Ofori-Atta spoke highly of the bilateral cooperation of the two countries, and thanked China for its long-term assistance and support in its fight against COVID-19 and other emergencies, as well as in the nation's socioeconomic development. He pledged to actively support the GDI, the Global Security Initiative and the Global Civilization Initiative proposed by China, strengthen pragmatic cooperation with China under the framework of the China-Africa Cooperation Forum, strive for more cooperative outcomes, and jointly implement the United Nations' 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The two sides also held an in-depth exchange of views on specific issues related to development cooperation. Liu Junfeng, director-general of the Second Department of Regional Affairs of the CIDCA, Du Wei, deputy director-general of the CIDCA's Department of International Cooperation, and Hammond, ambassador of Ghana to China, also attended the meeting.
