On March 24 local time, Tang Wenhong, vice-chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), met with Naomi Biribo, cabinet secretary of Kiribati in the country's capital Tarawa, during a trip to the country.
The two sides spoke highly of the progress made in international development cooperation over the past three years, since the resumption of diplomatic relations between the two countries. They also held an in-depth exchange of views on such topics as social development and people's livelihoods, infrastructure, and the Global Development and South-South Cooperation Fund.
A memorandum of understanding on strengthening cooperation and promoting the implementation of the Global Development Initiative was signed at the end of the meeting.
Chinese Ambassador to Kiribati Tang Songgen, Deputy Director-General of the CIDCA's Second Department of Regional Affairs Zhang Lihua, and the permanent secretaries to Kiribati's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Finance and Economic Development, Ministry of Information, Communications and Transport, and Ministry of Environment, Lands and Agriculture Development were also present.
