CIDCA chairman meets with official of EC Directorate-General for International Partnerships

On March 27, 2023, Luo Zhaohui, chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), had a courtesy meeting with Ambassador of European Union (EU) to China Jorge Toledo, and Peteris Ustubs, the director responsible for the Middle East, Asia and Pacific of the European Commission's Directorate-General for International Partnerships (INTPA).

Luo extended a warm welcome to Ustubs on his visit to China for departmental consultations on China-EU international development cooperation. Noting that China and the EU have some common priorities and direction in international development cooperation, Luo said that China is ready to work with the EU in aligning the Global Development Initiative (GDI) with the Global Gateway strategy, deepen theoretical and practical exchanges and mutual learning in international development cooperation, explore trilateral cooperation in Asia and Africa, and jointly promote the implementation of the United Nations' 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Toledo and Ustubs said that the EU attaches great importance to developing relations with China. The impressive GDI proposed by China aims to accelerate the implementation of the UN’s 2030 Agenda, which is in line with that of the Global Gateway and accordingly offers huge potential for cooperation. They expressed that the EU is ready to strengthen institutional policy exchanges with China, share information on international development cooperation, and explore joint monitoring and evaluation, as well as trilateral cooperation.

Xu Wei, director-general of the CIDCA's Department of International Cooperation, Tian Lin, director-general of the CIDCA's Department of Supervision and Evaluation, and Tang Ying, head of the Global Development Promotion Center of the CIDCA, also attended the meeting.
