A delegation led by Deng Boqing, vice-chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), paid a visit to Bangladesh from March 29 to 31.
During the visit, Deng met with Bangladeshi Foreign Minister A.K. Abdul Momen, Minister of Finance A.H.M. Mustafa Kamal, Minister of Health and Family Welfare Zahid Maleque, and Deputy Minister of Education Mohibul Hassan Chowdhury Nowfel, and held in-depth exchanges with them on such topics as bilateral ties, implementing the Global Development Initiative (GDI) and deepening bilateral development cooperation. He also attended a signing ceremony of the implementation of a health cooperation project.
During his stay, Deng had a work meeting with Sharifa Khan, secretary of the Economic Relations Division of the Ministry of Finance of Bangladesh. The two sides conducted detailed exchanges and signed related cooperation documents on such fields as infrastructure construction, disaster prevention and reduction, information communication, and medical and health care. Deng also took field surveys to the China-aided projects of the Bangabandhu International Conference Center and the Dharavi Sewage Treatment Plant.
Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen, Economic and Commercial Counsellor Song Yang, and Deputy Director-General of the CIDCA's First Department of Regional Affairs Zheng Yuandong attended the above events.
