In her speech, Chinese Consul General in Rio de Janeiro Tian Min noted that China and Brazil, as the largest developing countries and key emerging economies in the eastern and western hemispheres respectively, are both at critical stages of development and share broad common interests.

The two countries have deepened practical cooperation under the international frameworks of BRICS, the G20, and the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), setting a good example for China-Latin America and South-South cooperation, she noted.

The association aims to provide more professional and thoughtful consulting services for trainees, gather their wisdom and strength, and work together with the Chinese Consulate General to further enhance cooperation between the two countries and nurture the two peoples' mutual understanding and affinity.

Claudia Januzzi, chairperson of the association, spoke highly of the human resources development project organized by the Chinese government, and said she hopes the association will promote more fruitful exchanges and cooperation between the two countries, and that she looks forward to more such training events in Brazil.

Evandro Carvalho, head of the Center for Brazil-China Studies of the Getulio Vargas Foundation School of Law in Brazil, said that the China-proposed BRI aims to help the world address new challenges in the 21st century and bring hope to global development, while the newly-established association emphasizes dialogue and friendship between Brazil and China, and people-to-people and cultural exchanges in the construction of the Belt and Road. The association will help Brazil deepen its connection with the BRI, he noted.

Early in February, a group of Brazilian officials and scholars, including Januzzi and Carvalho, attended a training program highlighting international development assistance, cross-border e-commerce, trade promotion, and poverty reduction in China.
