CIDCA chairman meets with Tajikistan foreign minister

Luo Zhaohui, chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), met with visiting Tajikistan Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin on April 25, 2023. The two sides exchanged views on such topics as bilateral ties and development cooperation.

Noting that Tajikistan is a major friendly neighbor of China, Luo urged both sides to implement key consensus reached between the two heads of state, accelerate the construction of infrastructure such as ports and roads, explore more "small yet smart" projects concerning people's livelihoods in such areas as poverty alleviation and green development, further strengthen experience sharing in state governance and cooperation in human recourse development, and jointly contribute to the high-quality Belt and Road cooperation and implementation of the Global Development Initiative (GDI).

Muhriddin extended his appreciation to China for its long-term assistance, which has played a key role in the socioeconomic development of Tajikistan. He acknowledged the continuous development of bilateral ties under the guidance of important consensus reached between the two heads of state and deepened pragmatic cooperation, and pledged to strengthen cooperation with China in promoting the Belt and Road development and the GDI. He also invited China to increase investment and strengthen cooperation in agriculture and water conservancy in a bid to help Tajikistan achieve sustainable economic development.

The two sides also exchanged views on specific cooperation projects. Director-General of the CIDCA's First Department of Regional Affairs Bai Bin and Deputy Director-General Li Junfeng, Deputy Director-General of the CIDCA's Department of International Cooperation Du Wei, and Tajikistan Ambassador to China Saidzoda Zohir Ozod also attended the meeting.
