The handover ceremony of a China-aided middle school project was held recently in Vientiane, capital of Laos. Laotian Vice-Premier and Foreign Minister Saleumxay Kommasith, Minister of Planning and Investment Khamjane Vongphosy, Minister of Education and Sports Phouth Simmalavong, and Mayor of Vientiane Atsaphangthong Siphandone, as well as Chinese Ambassador to Laos Jiang Zaidong attended the ceremony.
Atsaphangthong extended his appreciation to the Chinese government for its valuable assistance in education. He said that the China-Laos friendship has continued to grow under the leadership of the two heads of state, yielding fruitful results in the comprehensive strategic partnership, and that the spirit of "good comrades, partners, neighbors and friends" and the China-Laos community with a shared future are unbreakable.
Jiang said that China and Laos enjoy a long history of friendship and have achieved fruitful outcomes throughout their mutually-beneficial cooperation, with this middle school project being an epitome of the two countries' friendship. He pledged to work with Laos in implementing the key consensus reached between the two heads of state, and building the China-Laos community with a shared future in a bid to benefit more Laotian people.
This school, which is located in Vientiane and solely funded by China, is one of 10 China-aided schools in Laos. With classrooms, laboratories, libraries, offices, meeting rooms and supporting facilities, the school will greatly improve local teaching conditions and facilitate the high-quality development of local education.
