CIDCA chairman meets with UN representatives in China

Luo Zhaohui, chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), held a group meeting with the United Nations China team on April 28, 2023, with members including the UN Resident Coordinator in China Siddharth Chatterjee, Representative of the UN Children's Fund (UNICEF) to China Amakobe Sande, Representative of the UN Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) to China Stephen Kargbo, and Representative of the UNAIDS to China Erasmus Morah.

Luo extended his appreciation to the UN system in China and Chatterjee for their support for and participation in the recently-concluded high-level briefing on the promotion of the China-proposed Global Development Initiative (GDI) at the UN headquarters in New York. He pledged to continue to strengthen communication with the UN system, to innovate more models of bilateral and multilateral cooperation, to simultaneously implement the GDI and the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and to contribute to the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.

Chatterjee and other UN officials recognized the GDI's significance in helping achieve the UN's Sustainable Development Goals, congratulated on the success of the CIDCA's promotional event at the UN headquarters, and lauded the CIDCA's key role in promoting China's international development cooperation. They expressed readiness to work with the CIDCA to continuously promote the implementation of the GDI in light of relevant multilateral diplomatic agendas.

The two sides also exchanged views on related cooperative projects. Head of the CIDCA's Global Development Promotion Center Tang Ying and Deputy Director-General of the CIDCA's Department of Policy and Planning Li Ming also attended the meeting.
