CIDCA vice-chairman meets with China office director of Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation

Zhao Fengtao, vice-chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), met with Director of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation China Office Zheng Zhijie on May 18, 2023.

Zhao said that the foundation, as a key player in international development cooperation, has made positive contributions to the promotion of global health and development. The CIDCA shares a lot of common concerns with the foundation, and is willing to sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to carry out pragmatic cooperation in such fields as healthcare, capacity building and development financing, in a bid to jointly promote the implementation of the Global Development Initiative and the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Zheng said that the foundation applauds China's achievements in international development cooperation. The CIDCA is an important cooperation partner, with both sharing the same vision and goals. The foundation is ready to facilitate the signing of a MOU and to deepen cooperation in various fields in order to share China's development experience with more developing countries and promote sustainable global development, he said.

Director-General of the CIDCA's Department of International Cooperation Xu Wei and Deputy Director-General of the CIDCA's First Department of Regional Affairs Wang Daohao also attended the meeting.
