CIDCA chairman meets with Zimbabwean minister of foreign affairs and international trade

Luo Zhaohui, chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), met with visiting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of Zimbabwe Frederick Shava on May 29, 2023.

Luo noted that since the establishment of diplomatic ties more than 40 years ago, China and Zimbabwe have always trusted and supported each other and are good partners and good friends sharing a common destiny. The two countries have yielded fruitful results in development cooperation, he said, adding that China is ready to work with Zimbabwe to jointly advance high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, and to promote the implementation of the Global Development Initiative (GDI) and the continuous development of the comprehensive strategic partnership of cooperation.

Shava extended his appreciation to China for its long-term assistance in the socioeconomic development of his country, which demonstrates the profound friendship between the two countries. Zimbabwe is looking forward to learning from China's experience in reform and development, and will proactively support and participate in the GDI, striving for new achievements in bilateral pragmatic cooperation, he said.

The two sides also exchanged views on specific cooperation projects. Zimbabwean Ambassador to China Martin Chedondo and Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Industry and Commerce Mavis Sibanda, China's Ambassador-designate to Zimbabwe Zhou Ding, Director-General of the CIDCA's Second Department of Regional Affairs Bai Bin, and Director-General of the CIDCA's Department of International Cooperation Xu Wei also attended the meeting.
