CIDCA chairman meets with outgoing Cuban ambassador to China

Luo Zhaohui, chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), met with outgoing Cuban Ambassador to China Carlos Miguel Pereira on June 6, 2023.

Luo spoke highly of Pereira's contributions to promoting the bilateral pragmatic cooperation between China and Cuba throughout his tenure as ambassador to China. Noting that China and Cuba are good friends, good comrades and good brothers, Luo said that the special friendship between the two countries has continuously developed under the guidance of the key consensus reached between the two heads of state. China is ready to strengthen communication, deepen pragmatic cooperation, jointly promote the implementation of the Global Development Initiative and the high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, and the building of a China-Cuba community with a shared future, he said.

Pereira thanked China for its support in his work, and pledged to contribute more to the development of bilateral ties and cooperation.

The two sides also exchanged views on specific cooperation matters. Director-General of the CIDCA's Second Department of Regional Affairs Bai Bin, Deputy Director-General of the CIDCA's Department of International Cooperation Du Wei, and Minister Counselor of the Cuban Embassy in China Igor Montero also attended the meeting.
