CIDCA chairman meets with president of IFAD

Luo Zhaohui, chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), met with visiting President of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) Alvaro Lario on June 6, 2023.

Luo introduced China's efforts in implementing the Global Development Initiative (GDI), and acknowledged the IFAD's contributions to supporting developing countries, including China, in their agricultural development and poverty alleviation through free assistance and concessional loans. The IFAD's vision and methods are similar to those of China's foreign assistance, and the two sides can learn from each other, Luo said.  China is willing to strengthen pragmatic cooperation with the United Nations' three agencies for food and agriculture, including the IFAD, to jointly promote the UN's 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Lario said that the IFAD supports the GDI and is willing to strengthen its connection with the CIDCA, give full play to their respective advantages, expand pragmatic cooperation, and jointly contribute to the realization of the UN's 2030 Agenda.

The CIDCA's Vice-Chairman Zhao Fengtao and Director-General of the CIDCA's Department of International Cooperation Xu Wei also attended the meeting.
