On June 9, 2023, Member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and Director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs Wang Yi had a phone call with Indonesia's Coordinator for Cooperation with China and Coordinating Minister of Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan at the latter's request.

Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan briefed Wang Yi on his recent visit to China, saying that he sincerely admires President Xi Jinping's outstanding leadership and his important thoughts and philosophies on state governance. Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan added that he has gained a deeper understanding of the CPC's achievements in rallying and leading the Chinese people out of poverty and building a moderately prosperous society in all respects. Indonesia hopes to draw on China's useful experience in advancing reform, opening up, and high-quality development, and deepen practical cooperation in various fields to benefit the people of the two countries. Indonesia will advance key cooperation projects at a faster pace, and make all-out efforts to put the Jakarta-Bandung High-speed Railway into operation on schedule and give full play to its demonstration role. Indonesia looks forward to high-level exchanges with China in the next stage, and will advance the building of an Indonesia-China community with a shared future under the guidance of important common understandings reached between the two heads of state.

Wang Yi said that under the leadership of General Secretary Xi Jinping, the whole CPC and all Chinese people are of one mind to take solid steps toward the goal of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. To this end, they uphold the new development philosophy, pursue high-quality development, and advance Chinese modernization in all respects. China and Indonesia are both important representatives of major developing countries and emerging economies, with similar historical experiences and the same aspirations for progress. China is ready to work with Indonesia to draw upon each other's experience in state governance to accelerate their respective development and revitalization.

Wang Yi said that with the joint efforts of both sides, the all-round cooperation between the two countries has progressed smoothly. The joint commissioning and testing of the Jakarta-Bandung High-speed Railway, a flagship project of Belt and Road cooperation, has started, marking an important step towards the inauguration of the whole line. The railway will inject new impetus into Indonesia's accelerated development. Noting that the Chinese side attaches great importance to the China-Indonesia comprehensive strategic partnership, Wang Yi said China will work with Indonesia to follow the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, maintain close high-level exchanges, consolidate political mutual trust, seek greater synergy between development strategies, properly build a China-Indonesia community with a shared future, elevate bilateral relations to new heights, and open up new prospects for cooperation.

The two sides also had an exchange of views on international and regional issues of mutual interest and concern.
