On June 12, the first batch of humanitarian aid from the Chinese government to Myanmar arrived in Yangon International Airport, in response to Cyclone Mocha. The delivery was received at the airport by Chief Minister of Yangon Region Phyo Min Thein, Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Chen Hai, and Counselor Ouyang Daobing.
The cyclone inflicted severe damage on the Rakhine State and other areas in Myanmar. In direct response to Myanmar's request, the Chinese government delivered emergency humanitarian assistance to the country. The initial shipment included 10,000 mosquito nets and 10,000 blankets. A subsequent shipment consisting of water purification tablets, food, portable generators, and water pumps is planned for delivery via sea in the near future.
The Chinese government also donated one million yuan ($139,700) in cash assistance to Myanmar for the repair of Buddhist pagodas damaged by the cyclone in Bagan.
These measures are the embodiment of China's humanitarian assistance as well as the China-Myanmar community with a shared future through thick and thin.
