CIDCA holds open day for ISSCAD students

The China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA) held an open day event to which over 30 Chinese and foreign doctoral students from the Institute of South-South Cooperation and Development (ISSCAD) were invited to exchange ideas. Chairman of the CIDCA Luo Zhaohui, Vice-Chairman Zhao Fengtao, and Dean of the ISSCAD Lin Yifu attended the event.

Luo gave a warm welcome to the visiting ISSCAD students, introduced the new concepts, thoughts and measures of China's foreign aid and international development cooperation, and shared his personal experience of pursuing his dreams. Noting that the students all shoulder multiple roles of being students, government officials and envoys of people-to-people exchanges, he expressed hopes that they will contribute their parts to the building of their countries and a beautiful world. The CIDCA is ready to join hands with the students to promote the development of South-South cooperation and inject strong impetus into the global development and prosperity, he said.

Zhao introduced the CIDCA's duties and missions, the historical legacy of China's foreign assistance and international development cooperation, and the agency’s work on implementing the vision of a community with a shared future for mankind since its establishment.

Lin extended his appreciation to the CIDCA for its strong support to the ISSCAD. Since the proposal of its establishment in 2015, the institute has nurtured over 370 talents with master's and doctor's degrees for 72 countries in the last seven years, he said, adding that under the CIDCA's continued guidance, the institute will strive to develop into a major platform for the global South to learn and share concepts and experiences of the Chinese modernization.

The student representatives gave their sincere appreciation to the CIDCA and the ISSCAD. They said that the CIDCA plays a key and guiding role in global development cooperation, and China's foreign aid and international development cooperation is the best practice of humanitarianism, internationalism and multilateralism. They pledged to cherish the learning opportunity and scholarship provided by the Chinese government, use what they learn to explore a sustainable development path for their own countries.
