CIDCA, China Daily ink strategic cooperation framework agreement to bolster international communication

A team headed by Zhao Fengtao, vice-chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), visited China Daily on June 19, 2023, to exchange ideas and insights on improving international publicity of China's foreign assistance. Director-General of the CIDCA's Department of International Cooperation Xu Wei, and Deputy Editor-in-Chief of China Daily Wang Hao were present at the event. Prior to the meeting, Qu Yingpu, president and editor-in-chief of China Daily, met with the CIDCA team.

Zhao noted that for over seven decades, China has achieved a series of significant results and formed an effective model with Chinese characteristics in foreign assistance and international development cooperation. The CIDCA is proactively innovating communication methods to showcase the new achievements of China's foreign assistance, he said, adding that  the agency is looking forward to long-term cooperation with China Daily in international communication by tapping into their respective advantages and engaging in more practical cooperation. 

Wang noted that as one of the major national publicity and cultural units in the country, China Daily serves as an important window for China to reach out to the rest of the world and for the world to better understand China. He pledged that China Daily will utilize its  advantages as the nation’s leading English-language media outlet, work closely with the CIDCA, and share development experience and success-stories, in a bid to tell the international community stories surrounding China's foreign aid in an effective way.

Following the meeting, the two sides signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement on  international communication, which involves working together on the development of communication platforms, jointly holding international forums, fostering talents in international communication, and promoting overseas materialization of international communication strategies.
