On June 25, 2023, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Qin Gang met in Beijing with Vietnamese Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son, who is accompanying Prime Minister of Vietnam Pham Minh Chinh on his visit to China.
Qin Gang said that General Secretary Xi Jinping invited General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to visit China last October, guiding the China-Vietnam comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership into a new era. China regards Vietnam as a priority in its neighborhood diplomacy and attaches importance to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's visit to China. Qin Gang expressed the belief that the visit will inject new impetus into work to implement high-level common understandings and deepen China-Vietnam comprehensive strategic cooperation. China and Vietnam are linked by mountains and waters, enjoy cultural affinity, share the same philosophy, and pursue similar paths. The two sides should strengthen strategic communication, accelerate the alignment of development strategies, make bigger the pie of cooperation, consolidate the foundation of cooperation, and push for greater development of bilateral relations.
Bui Thanh Son said that Vietnam regards its relations with China as its top priority, pursues the one-China policy with a clear-cut stance, and firmly supports the development and growth of socialism with Chinese characteristics. This year marks the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership. It is Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's first visit to China, and also the first visit of Vietnamese Prime Minister to China after seven years. Vietnam looks forward to well implementing the common understandings reached between general secretaries of the two parties, enhancing strategic communication, deepening practical cooperation and making more achievements in bilateral relations through this visit.
