CIDCA vice-chairman meets with Rockefeller Foundation's chief representative in Asia

Zhao Fengtao, vice-chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), met with visiting Chief Representative in Asia of the Rockefeller Foundation Deepali Khanna on June 26, 2023. The two sides held in-depth exchanges on cooperation in addressing climate change.

Zhao noted that climate change response and green development is one of the eight major areas for cooperation under the Global Development Initiative (GDI). He said that China proactively advocates strengthening international cooperation against climate change to help developing countries respond to its impact and enhance their resilience. In recent years, China has carried out cooperation on green environmental governance, provided emergency assistance for meteorological disasters, and strengthened capacity training on climate change response in many countries. China has also carried out cooperation on specific projects under the Global Development and South-South Cooperation Fund. Noting that the CIDCA and the foundation share the same vision and goals and that both have rich experience in practice, Zhao said that the CIDCA is willing to carry out pragmatic cooperation with the foundation and jointly promote the implementation of the GDI and the United Nations' 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Khanna said that the foundation has recently formulated a five-year strategy to address climate change, with energy transformation, climate financing, food health and public health as its four pillars. The foundation will continue to carry out low-carbon and renewable energy projects in many countries. She applauded China's contribution to the international development cooperation, and said that she is looking forward to cooperating with the CIDCA to address climate change, and to sharing China's development experience with more developing countries in a bid to jointly promote global sustainable development.

Head of the CIDCA's Global Development Promotion Center Tang Ying and Eric Arndt, director of the foundation's Asia Regional Office, also attended the meeting.
