Luo Zhaohui, chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), met with Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN) Amina J. Mohammed on June 30, 2023.
Luo said that China firmly advocates and practices multilateralism and supports the UN in playing a key and leading role in advancing the sustainable development agenda. The CIDCA is ready to strive for closer and more efficient pragmatic cooperation with the UN in such areas as promoting sustainable development, financing development and climate change response, in a bid to bring development back to the center of the international agenda, and support the implementation of the Global Development Initiative (GDI) and the UN’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, he said.
Amina lauded China's achievements in promoting the implementation of the sustainable development agenda and the GDI, and thanked China, especially the CIDCA, for its firm support in global development. She said that the UN is willing to continue strengthening cooperation with China in international development, actively share China's development theories and practices, and jointly help other developing countries accelerate the implementation of the UN's 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Vice-chairman of the CIDCA Zhao Fengtao, Director-General of the CIDCA's Department of International Cooperation Xu Wei, UN Under-Secretary-General Li Junhua, Special Adviser on Africa to the UN Secretary-General Cristina Duarte, Special Adviser to the UN Secretary-General on Climate Action Selwin Hart, and UN Resident Coordinator in China Siddharth Chaterjee also attended the meeting.
