Zhao said that China attaches great importance to developing ties with Vanuatu and regards Vanuatu as a good partner and good friend among the Pacific island countries. China is willing to work with other developing countries including Vanuatu to proactively implement the GDI, strengthen policy communication, expand pragmatic cooperation and promote common development, he said. He also welcomed Vanuatu to participate in the first High-Level Conference of the Forum on Global Action for Shared Development, to be held by China in July.

Salvi said that Vanuatu appreciates China's selfless assistance to his country in such areas as COVID-19 response, hurricane disaster relief and infrastructure construction. Vanuatu highly commends China's promotion of bilateral pragmatic cooperation with Vanuatu on the basis of mutual respect and mutual benefit, and is willing to actively seek development cooperation with China under the GDI framework so as to better benefit the governments and peoples of both countries, he said.

Deputy Director-General of the CIDCA's Second Department of Regional Affairs Cai Fang also attended the meeting.
