Message of congratulations
Xi Jinping
President of the People's Republic of China
July 10, 2023
I would like to extend warm congratulations to the opening of the first High-Level Conference of the Forum on Global Action for Shared Development and a sincere welcome to all the guests.
The world is undergoing transformation that is unseen in a century and unfolding at a faster pace, with the global economy struggling to recover and the global development agenda facing challenges. In order to pool consensus for cooperation and promote shared development, I have put forward the Global Development Initiative (GDI) to help speed up implementation of the U.N. 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. I am happy to see that with the participation of various parties, cooperation under the GDI has reaped important early harvests, delivering benefits to many other developing countries.
Development is a timeless theme for humanity. Shared development is an important pathway toward building a better world. As the biggest developing country, China always places its own development in the context of human development, and seeks to create new opportunities for global development through its own development. China will continue to allocate more resources for global development cooperation, and will work with the international community to bring about more concrete results in advancing the GDI, so as to make new contributions to realizing the U.N.'s 2030 SDGs on schedule and to building a community with a shared future for mankind.
I wish the Conference a full success.
