CIDCA chairman meets with foreign minister of Uganda

Luo Zhaohui, chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), met with visiting Foreign Minister of Uganda Jeje Odongo, who came to China to attend the first high-level conference of the Forum on Global Action for Shared Development, on July 9, 2023.

Luo welcomed the minister on his visit and said that since the establishment of diplomatic ties over 60 years ago, China and Uganda have always supported and cooperated with each other in international affairs and have yielded fruitful cooperation results in various fields. China has always taken Uganda as an important partner of cooperation, and is willing to jointly advance the high-quality Belt and Road cooperation and the Global Development Initiative (GDI) under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, speed up the implementation of the nine programs of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation in Uganda, and promote the bilateral comprehensive partnership of cooperation to a higher level, he said.

Odongo extended his appreciation to China for its long-term support to Uganda, which has played an important role in advancing his country’s socioeconomic development. He pledged support and active participation in the GDI, the joint implementation of the key consensus reached between the two heads of state, and deepening cooperation in various fields to achieve common development.

The two sides also held in-depth exchanges on specific cooperation matters. Ambassador of Uganda to China Oliver Wonekha and Director-General of the CIDCA’s Second Department of Regional Affairs Bai Bin also attended the meeting.
