CIDCA chairman holds talks with Egyptian minister of international cooperation

On July 11, 2023, Luo Zhaohui, chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), held talks with Minister of International Cooperation of Egypt Rania AI-Mashat, who visited China and attended the first high-level conference of the Forum on Global Action for Shared Development.

Luo thanked Rania for attending the event and delivering a keynote speech at the sub-forum on financing for development. He acknowledged the significant progress in bilateral development cooperation, which has greatly facilitated the development of their bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership. He said that China is willing to work with Egypt to actively implement the key consensus reached between the two heads of state, expand cooperation in such areas as health care, infrastructure, aerospace science and technology, climate change response and green development, in a bid to promote the implementation of the Global Development Initiative and the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and contribute to the advancement of bilateral ties. 

Rania congratulated China on the success of the event, saying that the forum, with rich content and fruitful results, has encouraged all parties to focus on development issues, explore development paths, strengthen development cooperation and reach consensus on development. Noting that this was the first post-pandemic high-level meeting on global development, she said that Egypt is willing to participate in the follow-up meetings and make joint efforts to turn the China-proposed initiative into a truly global one. She spoke highly of the achievements of bilateral cooperation in development fields, and pledged to jointly promote the sustainable development of bilateral friendly relations for the benefit of the people of both countries.

The two sides also held in-depth exchanges on specific cooperation projects and signed related cooperative agreements. Director-General of the CIDCA's First Department of Regional Affairs Liu Junfeng and Egyptian Ambassador to China Assem Hanafi also attended the meeting.
