On July 21, 2023, the handover ceremony of humanitarian supplies provided by the Chinese government to Myanmar in response to the cyclone disaster was held in Yangon Port. Chief Minister of the Yangon Region Soe Thein, Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Chen Hai and Counsellor Ouyang Daobing attended the event.
Since Cyclone Mocha hit Myanmar, the Chinese government has provided humanitarian assistance supplies worth 9 million yuan ($1.26 million) and an additional one million yuan in cash assistance. The first batch of supplies arrived in Myanmar by air shortly after the disaster. The 190 tons of supplies delivered this time include food, water purification tablets, disinfection tablets, water pumps, generators, portable solar lamps and tents, which will play a positive role in restoring production and life for the people in disaster-hit areas. It further demonstrates the spirit of the China-Myanmar community with a shared future.
