Mongolia looks forward to further strengthening development cooperation with China under the frameworks of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and the Global Development Initiative (GDI), said Luvsannamsrai Oyun-Erdene, prime minister of Mongolia.
He made those remarks while meeting with Luo Zhaohui, chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, on Sept 1, 2023.
During the meeting, Oyun-Erdene extended his appreciation to the Chinese government for its long-term assistance and support to the development of economic and social sectors in Mongolia. Mongolia hopes to further strengthen development cooperation with China in such fields as trade, port construction, the prevention and control of desertification, cultural and sports exchanges, pollution control, the improvement of people's livelihoods and personnel training under the BRI and GDI frameworks, and to jointly implement relevant important consensus reached between the two heads of state, he said.
Luo said that as friendly neighbors linked by mountains and rivers, China and Mongolia are highly complementary in economic fields, and China's BRI and GDI are highly aligned with Mongolia's New Recovery Policy and Vision 2050. He pointed out that the Chinese delegation's visit to Mongolia aims to implement the important consensus reached between the two heads of state, push the China-Mongolia comprehensive strategic partnership to a higher level, deepen bilateral development cooperation, and push for the materialization of a number of important cooperation projects, especially China's support for Mongolia's "planting one billion trees" plan, so as to bring more benefits to the two peoples.
On the same day, the CIDCA, China's National Forestry and Grassland Administration and Ministry of Foreign Affairs held meetings with related departments of Mongolia, signed cooperation documents and held an unveiling ceremony of the China-Mongolia cooperation center on desertification prevention and control.
