CIDCA vice-chairman meets with IAEA deputy director general

Zhao Fengtao, vice-chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), met with Liu Hua, deputy director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), on Sept 8, 2023. 

Noting that the CIDCA and the IAEA share common concerns in many areas and have great potential for cooperation, Zhao said that the CIDCA is willing to explore cooperation with the IAEA in such areas as the safe use of nuclear technology, agricultural development, health care and capacity building, and jointly promote the implementation of the Global Development Initiative (GDI) and the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Liu said that the GDI highly dovetails with the UN 2030 Agenda, and pledged to strengthen communication with the CIDCA to jointly help developing countries in the safe use of nuclear energy, in order to promote the improvement of people's livelihoods and common development.

Director-General of the CIDCA's Department of International Cooperation Xu Wei also attended the meeting.
