Upon invitation, Deng Boqing, vice-chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), led a delegation to visit Uzbekistan from Sept 5 to 9, 2023.
Deng paid a visit to Uzbek Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khodjayev and held talks with Deputy Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade Khamidov Sarvar Ibrakhimovich, Governor of Syrdarya Region Akmal Mahmudaliyev, Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation Shakhlokhon Turdikulova, and Chairman of JSC Uzbekhydroenergo Abdugani Sanginov. He also attended the opening ceremony of a China-Uzbekistan poverty reduction and development seminar hosted by the CIDCA and undertaken by the government of Central China's Hubei province. During these occasions, the two sides had in-depth exchanges on such topics as bilateral ties, promoting the implementation of the Global Development Initiative (GDI) and bilateral development cooperation.
A series of cooperation documents, including a memorandum of understanding on priority projects for bilateral development cooperation and a meeting summary on talks concerning feasibility study on a China-aided sewage treatment plant in Sirdaryo Region, were signed.
During the trip, the delegation visited the planned sites of the China-aided wind power plant project and the cell technology and biomedicine center project in Tashkent, where Deng held a symposium with representatives of Chinese enterprises in Uzbekistan. They also went to Syrdarya Region to assess the planned site of the China-aided sewage treatment plant, and to Samarkand to inspect the implementation of the China-aided magnetic resonance equipment project and the radio communication network project.
Chinese Ambassador to Uzbekistan Yu Jun, head of Hubei's Foreign Affairs Office Zhang Xiaomei, and Deputy Director-General of the CIDCA’s First Department of Regional Affairs Li Junfeng also attended the activities.
