CIDCA chairman meets with former president of World Bank

Luo Zhaohui, chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), met with Jim Yong Kim, former president of the World Bank (WB) and partner of the Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP), on Oct 17, 2023.

Luo welcomed Kim to attend the third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation. He noted that development is an eternal theme of human society and a common concern of the international community. The China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and Global Development Initiative (GDI) have contributed China's solutions, wisdom and strength for common and sustainable development, he said, adding that the CIDCA is willing to cooperate with all parties in such areas as health and human resources to jointly promote the implementation of the GDI and the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Kim lauded China's initiatives and affirmed his active support for the BRI during his tenure as the WB's president. He said that he is willing to establish closer cooperation with the CIDCA to jointly help other developing countries create development opportunities and enhance their development capacity to facilitate common development and prosperity.

The two sides exchanged views on specific cooperation intentions.

Vice-Chairman of the CIDCA Zhao Fengtao, head of the CIDCA's Global Development Promotion Center Tang Ying, Deputy Director-General of the CIDCA's Department of International Cooperation Meng Ran, and Managing Partner of the GIP's Emerging Markets Cai Jinyong also attended the meeting.
