CIDCA chairman meets with UNIDO director general

Luo Zhaohui, chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), met with Director General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) Gerd Muller on Oct 17, 2023, who is in China to attend the third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation. The two sides held in-depth exchanges on strengthening cooperation.

Luo acknowledged the close cooperation and common interests between the CIDCA and the UNIDO in various fields that pose huge cooperation potential. He said that the CIDCA is willing to take the renewal of the memorandum of understanding as an opportunity to continue in-depth cooperation with the UNIDO in such areas as Africa's industrialization, green development and human resource development, in a bid to jointly promote the implementation of the Global Development Initiative (GDI) and the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Muller said that the GDI and the UNIDO share a similar philosophy and the UNIDO is willing to proactively participate in the GDI, expand cooperation in more fields, enrich cooperation means and elevate cooperation to new levels with the CIDCA in a bid to help other developing countries achieve the UN 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.

The two sides renewed their memorandum of understanding at the meeting. Vice-Chairman of the CIDCA Zhao Fengtao and Deputy Director General of the UNIDO Zou Ciyong also attended the meeting.
