On Oct 24, 2023, the second batch of post-quake humanitarian assistance supplies from China to Afghanistan, mainly urgently needed tents, was shipped from Irkeshtam Port in Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region.
Since Afghanistan was hit by an earthquake, the Chinese government has paid close attention to the disaster situation and announced immediately the decision to provide 30 million yuan ($4.18 million) of emergency humanitarian aid to the country. The first batch of assistance supplies arrived at Herat Airport in the quake-jolted area on Oct 15, and was delivered to the Afghan side for distribution to disaster victims.
