CIDCA chairman meets with executive director of UN-Habitat

On Oct 25, 2023, Luo Zhaohui, chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), met with Maimunah Mohd Sharif, executive director of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN‐Habitat).

Luo welcomed Sherif on her visit. He said that the CIDCA and the UN-Habitat share common concerns in many fields and enjoy great cooperation potential. The CIDCA is willing to strengthen policy dialogue with the UN-Habitat, and carry out pragmatic cooperation in such fields as urban-rural development and poverty reduction, smart city development, green and sustainable development, and human resource development, in a bid to jointly promote the Global Development Initiative and the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, he said.

Sherif spoke highly of China’s development philosophy, saying the transformation brought about by China's rapid urbanization development has been impressive. The UN-Habitat is willing to work more closely with the CIDCA to share China's advanced experiences in related fields with the rest of the world, so as to help other developing countries achieve the UN 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, she said.

The two sides held in-depth exchanges on their specific cooperation intentions. Director-General of the CIDCA’s Department of International Cooperation Xu Wei and officials from China’s Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development also attended the meeting.
