On Oct 26, 2023, Xu Wei, spokesperson for the China International Development Cooperation Agency, said that China is saddened at the large number of civilian casualties caused by the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and the sharp deterioration of the humanitarian situation in the region. In order to ease the humanitarian situation in Gaza, the Chinese government, on top of the $1 million in cash assistance already provided to the Palestinian National Authority and the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East, will provide an additional 15 million yuan ($2.06 million) in emergency humanitarian supplies, including food and medicine, to the Gaza Strip to help the people affected by the conflict.
