2nd Sunshine Forum on International Development Cooperation concludes in Beijing

The second Sunshine Forum on International Development Cooperation, hosted by the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), concluded in Beijing on Oct 27, 2023. Vice-Chairman of the CIDCA Deng Boqing addressed the closing ceremony.

In his address, Deng said the forum was characterized by equal exchange, openness, inclusiveness, practicality and efficiency, with all parties reaching important consensus. It was agreed that the widening global development deficit calls for greater attention by all stakeholders involved in international development cooperation, that monitoring, evaluation and statistics are crucial to enhancing the effectiveness of international development cooperation, that fighting corruption is an essential guarantee for the sustainability of international development cooperation, and that all look forward to further strengthening exchanges and cooperation in the fields of monitoring, evaluation, statistics and anti-corruption in international development cooperation.

Facing a world of profound changes, China stands ready to work with all countries to consolidate those consensuses, jointly foster an international environment that is conducive to development, jointly incubate new impetus for global development, and jointly build global development partnerships, Deng said. China will continue to advance innovation in concepts, systems and practice, to reinforce international cooperation in foreign assistance supervision, evaluation and anti-corruption, and make new contributions to realizing the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the building of a community with a shared future, he added.

During the forum, participants held  discussions on the topics of best practice, case studies, and anti-corruption efforts in international development cooperation. Heads of the Bureau of International Economic Cooperation at China's Ministry of Commerce and the China International Economic and Technological Exchange Center introduced the quality control practices of China's foreign aid projects and material projects. Heads of relevant Chinese enterprises introduced their work on quality management of the foreign aid construction projects as well as vaccines and drugs aid projects.
