On Oct 26, 2023, Tang Wenhong, vice-chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), paid a courtesy call to Zimbabwean President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa at the China-aided Parliament building in Zimbabwe.
Tang said that China and Zimbabwe are good friends, good partners and good brothers, who treat each other as equals through thick and thin. Under the care and guidance of the two heads of state, the two countries have deepened political mutual trust and achieved fruitful results in their practical cooperation. China attaches great importance to its development cooperation with Zimbabwe and is willing to take the opportunity of promoting high-quality Belt and Road cooperation and implementing the Global Development Initiative to actively promote the implementation of the nine programs for China-Africa cooperation in Zimbabwe, as well as deepen the comprehensive strategic partnership of cooperation between the two countries, according to him.
Mnangagwa welcomed Tang on his visit to Zimbabwe. He said that China and Zimbabwe share a brotherhood friendship. The Parliament building is a major cooperation project jointly promoted by the two heads of state, and is of great significance to the socioeconomic development of Zimbabwe. The Zimbabwean government and people appreciated the selfless assistance and strong support from the Chinese government and people, he added.
Vice-presidents of Zimbabwe Constantino Chiwenga and Kembo Mohadi, as well as Chinese Ambassador to Zimbabwe Zhou Ding, Commercial Counselor Huang Minghai, and Deputy Director-General of the CIDCA's Second Department of Regional Affairs Zhang Lihua also attended the meeting.
