Noting that China's foreign assistance is transforming and upgrading into international development cooperation, Luo said that China firmly supports the multilateral trade system and free trade. In recent years, China has helped other developing countries, especially some of the least developed countries, to improve their trade conditions and capability in trade development via a series of assistance measures, according to Luo. China is willing to strengthen pragmatic cooperation with the UNCTAD to closely combine development cooperation with trade and investment, jointly promote the implementation of the Global Development Initiative (GDI) and the realization of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, he said.

Grynspan lauded China's philosophy and practices in international development cooperation. She said that China's GDI highly aligns with the UNCTAD's major tasks, and the UNCTAD is willing to sign related cooperation documents with the CIDCA to establish closer and long-term cooperation, in a bid to help developing countries enhance their trade development capacity and capability, and better support the restoration and sustainable development of the global economy.

UN Resident Coordinator in China Siddharth Chaterjee and Director-General of the CIDCA's Department of International Cooperation Xu Wei also attended the meeting.
