Deng Boqing, vice-chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), met with Jibril Ibrahim, minister of finance and economic planning of Sudan, on Nov 6, 2023.
Deng said that China and Sudan enjoy a profound traditional friendship with mutual trust and support. Since the establishment of diplomatic ties, China has supported the socioeconomic development of Sudan, delivering over 100 cooperation projects and fostering nearly 9,000 talents in various fields, according to Deng. The meeting between the two heads of state last December charted the direction for deepening the China-Sudan strategic partnership, he said. China's position on developing ties with Sudan will not waver, no matter how the international situation changes, and China is ready to continue to provide assistance to Sudan within its capacity on top of accelerated delivery of emergency humanitarian assistance, he added.
Ibrahim extended his congratulations on the success of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and the significant achievements in the Chinese modernization. He thanked China for its long-term assistance to Sudan, and pledged to maintain close communication with China under the frameworks of the Belt and Road cooperation and the Global Development Initiative, restart agreed projects, explore more development cooperation and jointly promote the restoration of stability, as well as the reconstruction and development of Sudan.
