On Nov 7, 2023, Luo Zhaohui, chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), met with Pamela Coke-Hamilton, executive director of the International Trade Center (ITC) of the United Nations.
Luo said that China's foreign assistance is transforming and upgrading into international development cooperation. Noting that the CIDCA and the ITC share the same philosophy and goals, posing great potential for cooperation, Luo expressed his willingness to further explore opportunities with the ITC to expand and deepen cooperation in such areas as industrial and agricultural modernization, capacity building and digital connectivity, in a bid to jointly help other developing countries improve their trade development capacity, and promote the implementation of the Global Development Initiative (GDI) and the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Hamilton lauded the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative and the GDI, and pledged to establish closer and long-term cooperation with the CIDCA, to jointly help developing countries enhance their trade development capacity and capability, to support the development of small and medium-sized enterprises, and to play a bigger part in the global value chains and economic cooperation.
Director-General of the CIDCA's Department of International Cooperation Xu Wei and Deputy Director-General Li Yi also attended the meeting.
