CIDCA vice-chairman receives delegation from Lao Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry

On Nov 7, 2023, Deng Boqing, vice-chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), had a courtesy meeting with a delegation from the Lao Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry (MAF) led by Bounchanh Kombounyasith, head of the ministry's planting department.

Deng said that China and Laos are friendly socialist neighbors linked by mountains and rivers and a community with a shared future. In recent years, under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, China-Laos political mutual trust has continued to deepen, yielding fruitful results in pragmatic cooperation, he said. At the third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation held in October, the two heads of state reached important consensus during their meeting, which has charted the direction for the future development of China-Laos relations, he said, adding that the CIDCA is ready to expand cooperation with the MAF in agriculture and help Laos enhance its agricultural development.

Bounchanh thanked China for its long-term assistance to Laos, and pledged to work with the CIDCA to actively implement the consensus reached between the two heads of state and the Global Development Initiative, as well as to jointly promote the implementation of bilateral cooperation projects to benefit the people of both countries and elevate the Laos-China relations to new heights.

The two sides also exchanged views on specific cooperation projects. Deputy Director-General of the CIDCA’s First Department of Regional Affairs Wang Daohao and Deputy Chief Cabinet of the Lao-China Cooperation Committee Office Sisoulad Ladsasisine also attended the meeting.
