CIDCA vice-chairman meets with UNDP regional director for Asia and the Pacific

On Nov 9, 2023, Zhao Fengtao, vice-chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), met with Kanni Wignaraja, assistant secretary-general of the United Nations and regional director for Asia and the Pacific of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), with whom he exchanged views on strengthening bilateral cooperation.

Noting that the CIDCA and the UNDP are close working partners that have seen fruitful cooperation outcomes, Zhao said that the CIDCA is willing to deepen cooperation with the UNDP in such areas as disaster prevention and reduction, post-epidemic restoration, low-carbon development and debt-for-development swap, actively build brand projects of international development cooperation, and pool the resources and strengths of all parties to jointly promote the implementation of the Global Development Initiative and the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Kanni thanked the CIDCA for its long-term support, recognizing it as the UNDP's closest and most important cooperation partner. She said that the UNDP is ready to deepen communication and pragmatic cooperation with the CIDCA, and expand its cooperation scale and impact, so as to contribute more to the wellbeing of people in the Asia-Pacific region and other developing countries around the world.

The UNDP Resident Representative in China Beate Trankmann and Deputy Director-General of the CIDCA's Department of International Cooperation Meng Ran also attended the meeting.
