CIDCA vice-chairman holds courtesy meeting with representatives of China-Bhutan workshop on traditional medicine

On Nov 10, 2023, Zhao Fengtao, vice-chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), held a courtesy meeting with representatives of the China-Bhutan workshop on traditional medicine and an official from the Ministry of Health of Bhutan.

Zhao affirmed that China has always adhered to the concept of amity, sincerity, mutual benefit and inclusiveness in its neighborhood diplomacy, and upheld the foreign policy of building friendship and partnership with its neighbors. In recent years, China and Bhutan have maintained high-level communications and steady expansion of pragmatic cooperation, Zhao said, adding that China's achievements on its path to modernization has brought opportunities to other countries including Bhutan, and that China is willing to continue to share Chinese solutions and wisdom with Bhutan under the Global Development Initiative framework, foster talents for Bhutan in key areas such as state governance, health care, tourism and commerce, in a bid to enhance the country’s development in various fields.

The Bhutanese official briefly introduced the history and development of the country's traditional medicine, and thanked China for holding the workshop. He said he will bring home the advanced knowledge of traditional Chinese medicine and practical skills he learned at the workshop, together with the friendliness of the Chinese government and people, and play a part in the enhancement of bilateral ties.

Deputy director-generals of the CIDCA's Department of International Cooperation and the First Department of Regional Affairs Meng Ran and Wang Daohao also attended the meeting.
