Luo Zhaohui, chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), met with Khalil Hashmi, the newly appointed ambassador of Pakistan to China, on Nov 17, 2023.
Luo welcomed Hashmi for his new position in China, and said that China and Pakistan are "ironclad" brothers with invincible mutual trust and friendship. Pakistan is one of the first countries to support the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative and the Global Development Initiative (GDI), according to Luo, adding that the two sides have jointly promoted the construction of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and have achieved fruitful results in cooperation in various fields, such as infrastructure, people's livelihoods and human resource development. China is ready to work with Pakistan to jointly implement the consensus reached between the two heads of state, and further expand development assistance and cooperation in a bid to better benefit people of both countries and build a closer China-Pakistan community with a shared future, he said.
Hashmi thanked China for its long-term support and assistance to the socioeconomic development of Pakistan, and spoke highly of the CIDCA's role therein. He pledged to deepen cooperation in various fields, continue to advance high-quality Belt and Road cooperation and implement the GDI, and inject new impetus into deepening the China-Pakistan all-weather strategic partnership of cooperation.
The two sides also held in-depth exchanges on specific cooperation matters. Director-General of the CIDCA's Department of International Cooperation Xu Wei, Deputy Director-General of the CIDCA's First Department of Regional Affairs Wang Daohao, and Deputy Chief of the Pakistani Mission in China Bilal Mehmood Chaudhary also attended the meeting.
