CIDCA vice-chairman meets with UNDP resident representative in China

On Dec 7, 2023, Zhao Fengtao, vice-chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), met with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Resident Representative in China Beate Trankmann on the sidelines of the second China-Indian Ocean Region Forum on Blue Economy Cooperation.

Zhao welcomed Trankmann's attendance at the forum, and acknowledged the cooperative outcomes between the CIDCA and the UNDP as natural cooperative partners. He said that the CIDCA is ready to deepen pragmatic cooperation with the UNDP in such areas as disaster prevention and reduction and climate change response, to enhance the cooperation level, and to jointly promote the implementation of the Global Development Initiative and the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Trankmann said that the topics of the forum are highly in sync with the UNDP’s areas of interest. She thanked the CIDCA for its long-term support to the UNDP and pledged to strengthen communication and expand cooperation in both scale and impact to enhance the development level of developing countries.

After the meeting, the two sides exchanged a statement of intent on climate information and alert system cooperation.
