On Dec 9, 2023, Luo Zhaohui, chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), met with Comorian Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Environment, Tourism and Handicraft Houmed Msaidié on the sidelines of the second China-Indian Ocean Region Forum on Development Cooperation, which was held in Kunming, capital of Southwest China's Yunnan province.
Luo welcomed Houmed's attendance of the forum and said that China and Comoros are good friends and partners with mutual trust. The two countries have supported each other on issues concerning each other's core interests and major concerns. Under the guidance of the two heads of state, the two countries have actively implemented the nine programs announced at the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), and achieved tangible results, playing an important role in the economic and social development and improvement of people's well-being in Comoros, he said, noting that China is ready to deepen pragmatic cooperation with Comoros under the frameworks of the Belt and Road Initiative and the Global Development Initiative to promote the continuous development of bilateral relations.
Houmed said that the China-Indian Ocean Region Forum on Development Cooperation has enhanced exchanges among countries in the Indian Ocean region, further pooled the consensus of all parties on strengthening cooperation in the region to jointly promote the development of the blue economy, and effectively pushed forward the Unite Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Comoros regards China as the most reliable friend and is willing to learn more from China's successful development experience to achieve faster economic growth, for which they are looking forward to receiving greater support from China, he added.
The two sides also held in-depth exchanges on specific cooperative matters. Director-General of the CIDCA's Second Department of Regional Affairs Bai Bin also attended the meeting.
