China-aided skill development center breaks ground in Laos

On Dec 26, 2023, the groundbreaking ceremony for the China-aided project of the Oudomxay Vocational Skills Development Center was held in Muang Xay County, Oudomxay Province, in northern Laos. Over 90 representatives, including Charge d'Affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Laos Wang Chang, Minister of the Lao Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare Baykham Khattiya, and Governor of Oudomxay Bounkhong Lachiamphone, attended the ceremony.

In his remarks, Bounkhong expressed his gratitude to the Chinese government and people for their valuable assistance, saying that the project will significantly promote the economic development of Oudomxay and create more employment opportunities for local people. Baykham said that the ministry will make the utmost effort to work closely with both the provincial government of Oudomxay and other central and local departments and collaborate with Chinese project leaders to ensure the successful implementation of the project.
