On Jan 15, 2024, the graduation ceremony for the 2023 class of the Luban Workshop in Djibouti was held in the country's capital, Djibouti city.

Fifty students successfully completed their courses and obtained graduation certificates. Djibouti Minister of National Education and Vocational Training Moustapha Mohamed Mahamoud, Minister of Infrastructure and Equipment Hassan Humad Ibrahim, Minister of Trade and Tourism Mohamed Warsama Dirieh, and Chinese Ambassador to Djibouti Hu Bin attended the event.

Moustapha said that the Luban Workshop blazed a trail for vocational education in Djibouti, and filled the gaps in the railway profession in the country. The education sector of Djibouti hopes to continuously strengthen friendly cooperation with China and build the Luban Workshop into a model of friendship and cooperation between the two countries, he added.

Noting that this year marks the 45th anniversary of diplomatic ties between China and Djibouti, Hu said that China is ready to work hand in hand with Djibouti to continuously strengthen cooperation in human resources capacity building in order to facilitate employment of young people in Djibouti, add vitality to the country's economic development, and contribute more to long-term friendly cooperation between the two countries.

The Luban Workshop in Djibouti, the first of its kind in Africa, was unveiled in March 2019. Presently it offers four majors, namely railway engineering technology, railway operation management, business and trade, and logistics.
