CIDCA holds seminar on new white paper on China’s international development cooperation

On Jan 23, 2024, the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA) held a seminar to pool wisdom for the launch of a new white paper on China's international development cooperation. Over 30 representatives from foreign embassies, international organizations' China offices and development assistance agencies of relevant countries attended the event.

Tian Lin, director-general of the CIDCA's Department of Supervision and Evaluation, said that China attaches great importance to enhancing the transparency of China's foreign assistance and international development cooperation, and has released three white papers in this regard, which has become an important channel to understand China's foreign assistance in terms of policies and theories, practices and outcomes, and visions and prospects. Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, China has made unprecedented historical achievements in foreign assistance and international development cooperation, he noted, adding that the China-proposed vision of building a community with a shared future for mankind has become the fundamental principle of China's foreign assistance. China has actively carried out international cooperation against the COVID-19 pandemic as well as in the high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, actively aligned with the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, implemented the Global Development Initiative, made coordinated efforts to promote the implementation of major landmark projects and "small yet smart" livelihoods projects, and facilitated the transformation and upgrading of China's foreign assistance to international development cooperation, he said.  China is going to release a new white paper on its international development cooperation this year and is willing to strengthen exchanges and mutual learning with the international community on this matter, he added.

Attending parties agreed that China has made profound contributions to building a community with a shared future for mankind and achieving the UN 2030 Agenda by actively carrying out foreign assistance, which has played a leading role in global development cooperation. In a bid to enhance the transparency of its foreign assistance and international development cooperation, China has released information on its foreign assistance in various forms, such as white papers, news conferences, a series of signature activities and special issuance of International Development Cooperation: China's Practice, all of which achieved positive results and fully demonstrated China's open and inclusive stance in international development cooperation, they said.

The participants shared their respective practices and experiences in releasing information and data on development cooperation, engaged in lively discussions on the topic, and expressed their willingness to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with China and their expectation for  the release of the new white paper at an early date.
