On Feb 27, 2024, Meng Ran, deputy director-general of the Department of International Cooperation of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), attended and addressed a seminar on enhancing international volunteering experiences hosted by the UN Volunteers.
Meng introduced the CIDCA’s responsibilities and progress in implementing the Global Development Initiative (GDI). Noting that volunteers are an important force in promoting global sustainable development and common prosperity, she said that the CIDCA is ready to deepen communication and expand cooperation with the UN Volunteers, and advance pragmatic cooperation in such areas as selecting and dispatching Chinese volunteers to serve at UN agencies, exchanging experiences in sending volunteers overseas, and co-hosting training for volunteers in a bid to jointly contribute to the GDI implementation and the realization of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
About 50 representatives from institutions such as the UN Development Programme, the UN Volunteers, the China International Center for Economic and Technical Exchanges, the Chinese Young Volunteers Association, and the CIDCA, attended the seminar.
