On March 11, 2024, Luo Zhaohui, chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), met with Zhang Wencai, designate executive vice-president and chief administrative officer of the World Bank (WB).
Luo congratulated Zhang on his inauguration to the new post. Noting that China as the largest developing country has a sound cooperative foundation with the WB, the biggest global multilateral development agency, in such areas as helping other developing countries to achieve sustainable development and responding to global challenges, Luo said that the CIDCA looks forward to deepening cooperation with the WB, contributing to international development cooperation, and jointly promoting the implementation of the Global Development Initiative (GDI) and the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Zhang gave a briefing on the WB and acknowledged the positive cooperative relations between the WB and China. Noting the substantial pragmatic work done by the CIDCA in such areas as poverty reduction, public health and climate change response, he raised his hope for further exchanges and cooperation between the two sides.
The two sides particularly exchanged views on the implementation of the GDI.
Vice-Chairman of the CIDCA Zhao Fengtao and officials from the CIDCA's Department of International Cooperation and the Global Development Promotion Center also attended the meeting.
