Located on the East African plateau, Ethiopia is one of the fastest growing economies in Africa. It is known as the "water tower of East Africa" because of its abundant water resources. In recent years, through such frameworks as the Belt and Road Initiative and the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, economic and trade exchanges between China and Ethiopia have been continuously strengthened with flourishing cooperation in various fields. On Jan 1, 2024, Ethiopia became an official member of BRICS, bringing new opportunities for China-Ethiopia cooperation.
