CIDCA chairman meets with under secretary general of IFRC

On March 27, 2024, Luo Zhaohui, chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), met with Under Secretary General of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) Xavier Castellanos Mosquera in Boao, South China's Hainan province.

Noting the sound cooperation foundation between the CIDCA and the IFRC in humanitarian assistance, Luo expressed his willingness to strengthen cooperation with the IFRC in various fields under the Global Development and South South Cooperation Fund, as well as to jointly promote the implementation of the Global Development Initiative (GDI) and the realization of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, to build a community with a shared future for mankind and contribute to global peace and development and the international humanitarian cause.

Castellanos lauded China’s important role in the international humanitarian cause. Noting that the IFRC has rich experience in reaching communities and capacity building, he said that the IFRC agrees to and supports the GDI, and wishes to deepen cooperation with the CIDCA in such areas as healthcare, climate change response and disaster response to jointly address global challenges.

The two sides exchanged views on topics of common concerns. Olga Dzhumaeva, head of the IFRC East Asia Delegation, also attended the meeting.
